The Prime Minister of India who served for the shortest time was **Gulzarilal Nanda**. He was the acting Prime Minister twice, following the deaths of Jawaharlal Nehru and Lal Bahadur Shastri.

- His first term was from **May 27, 1964, to June 9, 1964** (13 days) after Nehru's death.
